On the Order of Saint George

I wrote back in 2019 about the Holy Orthodox Order of Saint George the Great Martyr and I wanted to just do another update as the Order has grown a bit since then.

When I first wrote about the Order, we were just basically getting started. Since then, we have donated almost $150,000 to various causes. To give an example of how much we've grown since then, in 2020 we donated a grand total of $1,752.96. In 2021 we donated a total of $23,446.99. This year (2022) we have donated $121,148.55, and the year is not over!

If you are interested in seeing where this money is going, then please click the link above.

Naturally, I try to raise awareness of the Order as often as I can because I believe that we are doing good supporting these different causes throughout the world.

I've been asked before why Orthodox Christians should join or support the Order over the Order of St. Ignatius (Antiochian) or the Archons (Greek).  Those orders seem to only really focus on those jurisdictions. For example, the Order of Saint Ignatius raises money for the various departments and charitable works of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America, and the Order of Saint Andrew (Archons) supports the Ecumenical Patriarch and it's various needs.

The Order of Saint George, however, is pan Orthodox. This means that any Orthodox Christian, male or female, clergy or laity, may join the Order. This also means that the Order supports a variety of causes among the various Orthodox jurisdictions.

For example, our philanthropic endeavor for this year is to raise monetary assistance for Arab Orthodox Christians in the Kingdom of Jordan (link above for more information). Last year, our philanthropic endeavor was for the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem (ROCOR) that oversees many sacred sites in Jerusalem.

In addition to the annual philanthropic endeavors, the Order also donates to various other causes throughout the year. In 2020 we donated to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Beirut, Lebanon to aid and assist the victims of the explosion that happened there. Last year, 2021, we donated to St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church in Lubbock, Texas to help them replace sacred vessels after their parish was desecrated, and we helped an Orthodox couple in Albania who were having financial difficulties and were expecting a baby. This year, we've donated to various missions and parishes, as well as to a young lady who needed a kidney transplant.

The Order of Saint George donates not only to large entities such as archdioceses, but to smaller missions, monasteries, and even individuals.

This is why I believe that we in the Order are doing good things - not to say that the Order of St. Ignatius or the Order of St. Andrew are not. We are helping Orthodox Christians here in the US, and throughout the world. We have a global focus on helping those Orthodox faithful who are in need, no matter if it is one individual, a parish, or larger.

So, please, if you can join the Order and support our missions that would be great. You'd be helping us to grow and reach more people. If you can't join (or don't want to ), please at least consider donating. If you can't donate, then please pray for us.
